After an anticipated wait, Black Coffee and THEMBA landed in Venezuela’s capital for their debut in the country, which took place this past December 4th, at the Tamanaco Hotel open facilities.
Early in the evening, we headed to the venue to find the first group of attendees, who were eagerly awaiting the doors’ opening.
On this occasion, the Pav Events team prepared a stage worthy of the appointment, with large LED screens, powerful sound, a proper dancefloor, and different stands with food, drinks, clothing accessories, and other amenities from the event’s sponsors.
Otto Salerno performed the musical journey opening. He received the first attendees with some refined beats, then passed the decks to the well-known local DJ Jean Perez, who continued the party setting the stage for the African sounds that the headliners promised us.
Around 9 PM, it was THEMBA’s turn, the DJ and producer who rose to fame in 2018 with his single ‘Who is THEMBA’, which became a worldwide hit on the dance genre charts. Recently, he carried out his ‘Colours’ residency at the Club Chinois in Ibiza, where together with renowned guests he showed his African roots to create his own unique version of electronic music. In his presentation in Caracas, the artist recreated those same vibrations, and for 3 hours, he made the audience dance with some cuts from his latest releases, such as ‘Heritage’ or ‘Modern Africa’. Notably, THEMBA serves as an ambassador for the organization Bridges for Music, which empowers young Africans from underserved communities through programs focused on creative entrepreneurship, wellness, and music.
Later that night, and when the energy was at a very high level, it was the turn of the long-awaited Black Coffee, the artist from Durban and 2021 Grammy Award winner for the best ‘Dance / Electronica’ album with ‘Subconsciously’, in addition to being the executive producer of Drake’s ‘Honestly, Nevermind’.
For 3 hours, the “Afropolitan House” global ambassador demonstrated why he has been applauded at festivals such as Coachella and Creamfields, in addition to his recent residences at Hï Ibiza and the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. Among some of the tracks that he played that night was ‘Les Gout’ by Rampa feat. Chuala, and some of his own productions such as ‘Drive feat. Delilah Montagu (Solardo Remix)’, his latest collaboration with David Guetta.
As the presentation was coming to an end, both international artists were encouraged to extend the session with a back-to-back full of fireworks, lasers, and confetti to euphorically close what was a long-awaited night for the Venezuelan crowd.
We thank Alegria Management and Pav Events teams for the invitation.
