Tutara Peak shares 10 favorite ambient tracks

UK-based producer Tutara Peak celebrates the release of his joint collaboration with Canada-based colleague Aether. The coupling’s piece of work ‘Yukijo’ explores ambient, vibrant, and downtempo soundscapes that demonstrate diversity across the two’s styles of composition. Boasting both Tutara Peak and Aether’s signature sounds, the release delivers a fine exemplification of both artists’ production proficiencies.

Now, to commemorate the release of ‘Yukijo feat Aether’, Tutara Peak shares with EG his 10 favorite ambient tracks:

1. Tycho – Dye

“First song I had heard of Tycho. It was so inspirational, because, listening through the rest of that album (‘Awake’), it’s like he had created his own musical language, which I’ve always aspired to do.”

2. Photay & Carlos Niño – Change

“I listened to this once the album came out on Bandcamp, and I remember the first time listening to it was a very meditative, unique experience.”

3. Fyfe, Iskra Strings & Kelly Lee Owens – Spirograpghs (Beatless Mix)

“A dear friend showed this song to me and explained the sentiment he has to this song. Listening to it for the first time was a magical experience and really inspired some of my more strings-based works.”

4. Jadu Heart – I Shimmer

“While it’s still quite a fresh song, the moment I heard it, I instantly believed this is a great direction for this band. I’ve been following them for a while and had always thought they would head in this direction. A big inspiration for the other bodies of work in progress. “

5. Ásgeir – Like I Am

“I hosted an hour takeover on Amazing Radio last month and, after my show had finished, this was the first song that was played. I was instantly hooked!”

6. Nosaj Thing & Julianna Barwick – Blue Hour

“I’ve been a massive fan of Barwick for a long time and hearing her collaborate with Nosaj Thing was always gonna be a great song, it definitely doesn’t disappoint!”

7. Doug Kaufman – A Meditation on Belonging

“My friend shared this song with me as, at the time, I was listening to more ambient stuff. This song felt very unique and inspiring to me as it had a slight post-rock edge to it, which I’m all about. “

8. The Venopian Solitude – Mirror

“This one is definitely different from what I usually listen to. I first found this song in the documentary ‘Shirkers’, the placement of this song in the film was perfect to me, and since that moment, I had gone on a binge of all of their catalog. I really love the lo-fi recording vibe it has and the natural sound it captures.”

9. Cassandra Jenkins – The Ramble

“This song has such a human feel about it which is probably what I love the most about it. Jenkins has managed to create a free-flowing song that feels like a meditative experience to create.”

10. Friendly Fires – Jump in the Pool

“I found this song when I was maybe 14 and thought it was the biggest-sounding song ever. I found this song again last month and was instantly drenched in nostalgia.”
