Olivier Giacomotto returns to a revitalised Yoshitoshi
The term veteran is too often banded around in dance music. But in Olivier Giacomotto’s case, it’s deadly accurate. His discography reaches back over a decade, taking in labels such as Toolroom, Get Physical, Glasgow Underground, Global Underground, Stil Vor Talent, Suara, Einmusika, Eleatics, 3000 Grad, and more (much more actually); in between all that he finds time to run Definitive with long time collaborative partner John Aquaviva, all of which is before a touring schedule that’s taken him around the world.
“Olivier has been a close-knit member of the label family over the years,” says Sharam, “so it’s fitting he’s first out the revitalized Yoshitoshi traps. We took a beat this year for a general refresh and are now perfectly set to kick back for the latter part of 2022 and beyond. It’s really good to be back!”
Daylight’s Delight / Time Feat. Lady Vale is the dictionary definition of an AA-side; two impeccable slices of melodic techno that force any listener into the difficult position of trying to pick a winner. To say there’s a subjective fly-paper between them would be an understatement, both are rich with Olivier’s impeccable production and infectious riffs, whilst Time also boasts a vocal courtesy of Lady Vale’s sultry musings. “It’s great to be back on Yoshi with a AA banger,” Olivier confirms, “these really were made with the dancefloor in mind, I can’t wait to get them out there as clubs re-open and the world begins to dance again.”
