Ablekid aka Daniel Moore is a veteran DJ/producer from the Orlando underground now living in Austin, TX. Surrounded by a plethora of musical talent and with one of Americas greatest underground clubs on his doorstep, Danny’s journey into dance music was as fortuitous as it was inevitable.
The early 90’s underground music scene in Orlando and Cocoa Beach, Florida was for Daniel home, and the place he began his 28 year and counting sonic voyage of discovery. Attending the now legendary Orlando Aahz parties where he witnessed future legends Sasha & John Digweed grow in stature, along with weekly doses of pioneer resident DJ’s Kimball Collins, Dave Cannalte, Chris Fortier, Jimmy Van M and more, he knew early on that everybody there was taking part in something very special.
After picking up a set of decks in 2000, he started buying vinyl by the crate-load and honing his skills – a small following developed. Subtle, smooth blends and attention to detail caught the eye of a few people in the scene, and so he began opening for, and playing alongside, various Florida legends. From 2004 to 2006 he hosted a weekly live internet radio show with Orlando’s own Bert Simmons. Broadcasting from the world renowned Drop Shop record store in Orlando, they played the freshest progressive house and breaks tracks of the day. The duo also held a weekly residency at Club Volume in downtown Orlando spinning deep, soulful progressive and fresh techno in a city hyped on the en vogue Florida breaks sound.
Not long after a move to the musical hotbed of Austin, Texas in 2009, the Ablekid moniker had seen success in various forms. Various tracks signed to Kindred Recordings (Paris) and Rapid Fire Records (Miami) in 2009 put his production style on the map. Daniel has also fostered relationships with many promo services by becoming part of the esteemed Release Promo roster in 2014. In late 2015 Daniel started his radio show on DNA Radio FM, “Pineal Sessions with Ablekid” showcasing his finest picks for the enlightened listeners he hopes to reach.
Newly released music can be found on Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music where he has made the USA’s sole appearance on the esteemed label’s first “Elements” series, an ongoing venture that sees the label highlight talent from across the world. The release also saw a write up and 12 Questions interview from legend Mitch Alexander and Change Underground, making it a true highlight thus far in this man’s musical journey.
Daniel’s continued success in the US underground is a combination of effective crate digging, silky smooth DJ skills and just the right amount of grit and determination. Recent guest spots for Decoded Magazine and Cirque Noir’s Frisky radio show amongst others are subtle hints at the result of all this hard work and shows a depth of knowledge and attention to detail that has seen his heroes rule the underground for many wonderful tune filled years.
