Love Parade’s ‘Rave The Planet’ to rock Berlin this weekend

It’s the event’s first major edition in Berlin in more than 15 years.

Rave The Planet, a new version of the fabled Love Parade, is back on the streets of Berlin for a weekend celebration this July 9th and 10th. Showcasing some 150 DJs, this will be the first major Love Parade edition in the German capital in over 15 years as it travels seven kilometers across the German capital, from Kurfürstendamm to Großer Stern.

“This isn’t a revival—it’s a new beginning. Leave your expectations behind and let’s create something new—together again. We made a conscious decision to have a demonstration-only march this year, without a main stage, completely back to the roots. Like the early Love Parades at the beginning of the 1990s. This is how we would like to continue the tradition: honest, from the heart, and made by ravers, for ravers.” said co-founder and organizer Dr. Motte in a recent interview.

Dr. Motte went on to explain that Rave The Planet is also intended as a “political demonstration” to show support for the preservation of electronic dance music culture. Political demands in English and German will air every hour on the hour, including the recognition of electronic music as a cultural asset, the protection of clubs and venues, and more.

Juan Atkins, Luigi Madonna, Last Robots, Samantha Togni, Stephanie Sykes, and more have already been confirmed to perform on floats representing Berlin, Sweden, Belgium, Poland, Ukraine, the Netherlands, and others.

Rave The Planet has been planned and coordinated in collaboration with the Berlin Fire Department and the Berlin Police. You can learn more about Rave The Planet here.
