EG.888 Jon Gurd

“This mix includes music I’m currently enjoying plus a few tracks from my new album, Phoenix, which is out now on Anjunadeep” – Jon Gurd

Benchmarking 2022 with his debut Room 2 performance at Fabric, along with the announcement that ‘Open’ will appear on the Anjunadeep 13 compilation – Jon Gurd shows no signs of slowing down.

A tale of two halves, Jon’s musical career spans over two decades. Coming up through the UK underground in the early 2000’s, Jon was a resident DJ at the legendary Slinky in Bournemouth, warming up for the likes of Paul Van Dyk and Armin van Burren. He then began producing records championed by the likes of Paul Woolford, Sasha & James Zabiela. This first chapter then came to an end in 2013 when Jon then took some time out for personal reasons.

Once ready to produce music again in 2016/2017, Jon’s mindset was in a different place entirely, resulting in his music going down an alternative path. This new era eventually led to Anjunadeep signing him to the label and releasing his first full-length album.

‘Lion’ dropped in the summer of 2020 on the prestigious UK imprint, reaching #3 in the iTunes Dance chart and gained support from tastemakers’ Solomun, Stephen Bodzin, Adriatique, Ida Engberg and Shadow Child.

2021 saw the release of Jon’s ‘Spaces’ EP also on Anjunadeep, followed by live performances at London’s Phonox and Printworks in the second half of the year.
